Darton Holds its 47th Annual Honors Award Ceremony
Darton State College honored its top students for their academic achievements on April 29, at the 47th Annual Honors Awards Ceremony. Awards were presented for outstanding student activity, student honors, and to students in each academic discipline.
Several students were presented special recognition for their academic excellence, including the 2015 Academic Recognition Student, Jonathan Colley, of Thomaston, who was presented with a special proclamation; Samantha Nagy, of Leesburg, who placed second nationally in the English honor society Sigma Kappa Delta’s writing contest; and Shelley Brooks, of Leesburg, who also placed third in Sigma Kappa Delta’s national writing contest.
In the Spotlight
Some might say that Shelley Brooks and Samantha Nagy, both of Leesburg, are over achievers, and they would be correct. On May 7, both Brooks and Nagy graduated from Darton State College with a 4.0 GPA and a long resume of academic achievements.
Combined they have won more than 15 awards and are involved in more than eight campus organizations; including the honors program, an orientation leader, writing center tutor, and the International honor society Phi Theta Kappa.
