I am proud to say that I am a product of Albany, Georgia and Darton College. I graduated from Darton prior to attending Georgia Southwestern State University, where I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a major in marketing. In between earning my Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees, I moved to Marietta and worked for about five years. Now that I’m back and loving my new job, I plan to eventually earn an MBA online while I’m working.
As a former Darton student, I am extremely pleased with how the College has evolved. The programs and activities offered at Darton rival those of much larger universities. Our personnel take great pride in our academics and student activities.
My job gives me a great opportunity to assist students in pursuing their educational goals, and, in turn, the education they receive gives them the tools to become better people and contribute to society in a positive way. It’s special to be a part of that.
When I’m not working, I’m curling up with my dog, Harley (he’s a Yorkie), and a good book. You can also find me watching movies - The Notebook is one of my all-time favorites.
I look forward to meeting you and learning about you!

I am a graduate of Georgia Southwestern State University, where I received a Bachelor’s of Business Administration with a major in marketing. As a “home-grown country gal” who grew up on a farm in Blakely, I have always loved spending time with friends and family and singing in the church choir. In fact, I actually tried out for the second season of American Idol (Okay, I didn’t win, but it was a great experience!)
My first job was recruiting Atlanta-area students for GSW, and then I moved to the healthcare industry as an Account Executive for Phoebe Putney Hospital. The education field was never far from my mind, though, and I knew that helping students make meaningful decisions about their academic futures was my career goal, so here I am!
Darton is unique to me, because we offer so many quality academic choices right here in South Georgia. I love the fact that faculty and staff at Darton truly care about the students on this campus.
Come see me, or call or email me, and I’ll help you become a Cavalier!
Jerry Saunders - North Georgia Recruiter
jerry.saunders@darton.edu (770) 366-6273
I have been in sales my entire life, and I am happy to be selling Darton College to prospective students. I graduated from Boston University with a degree in marketing and served in the United States Army as a Special Agent with the Criminal Investigation Division prior to embarking on a career in the business world. After serving as Ford Motor Company’s Marketing Manager for New England, I became the National Sales Manager for The Interface Group, a large trade show producer. Retirement wasn’t for me, and I recruited for the Florida Institute of Technology for several years before relocating to Canton, Georgia.
Recruiting is my passion, and when I saw that Darton College was going to recruit students from the North Georgia area, I immediately applied for the job. The reputation of Darton College up here is ever-increasing, and we are becoming an important choice for students throughout the state. I feel that Darton offers unique opportunities for both traditional and non-traditional students. The variety of curriculum and our designation as one of the Top Ten Digital Community Colleges in the United States is unique.
Get in touch with me to find out what Darton is all about - you’ll be impressed!
Amy Palmer - Admissions Specialist
amy.palmer@darton.edu (229) 317-6946
I have been employed at Darton College for three and one-half years, and my main responsibility is to process your admissions information so that you can complete your file and be admitted to the College. I also handle phone calls and see students, and I am a Darton student myself, so there’s no telling when you might run into me on campus!
Darton is a great place to go to college, even for an employee like myself. I can accommodate my job hours by taking online classes, and classes on campus are interesting, with lots of discussion, power point presentations, and great student-teacher relationships. I really enjoy the small class sizes and friendly environment. I am proud to be a Cavalier, both as an employee and a student.
On the weekends, I can usually be found doing something with my large extended family in Newton, Georgia. I also love movies, especially horror movies, and classic rock music, so if there is a concert around, I’ll be there.
Let me know if I can help you in any way!
