Tax Transcript Explanation
Beginning FALL 2012, Students who are selected for financial aid verification and chose not to use the IRS data load or completed their FASFA without having filed their taxes will no longer be able to submit regular 1040 tax forms. Per new federal regulations, schools may only accept TAX RETURN TRANSCRIPTS from the IRS for verification purposes which may take 6 -8 weeks or longer to receive by mail. Again, DARTON COLLEGE CAN NO LONGER ACCEPT 1040 TAX FORMS FOR FINANCIAL AID VERIFICATION.
IRS tax transcripts may be obtained by one of the following:
- Pick up at your regional IRS Office - www.irs.gov/localcontacts - address and phone numbers for IRS office in your area
- IRS Transcript Request Link - http://www.irs.gov/

- IRS by mail – form 4506-T with instructions attached - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506t.pdf
*NOTE: Student may return to www.fafsa.gov
and link FAFSA with IRS Data Retrieval
to avoid submitting tax transcripts.*
