Darton State College Office of Military and Adult Education Money Matters
Financial aid includes grants, scholarships, loans, and work study opportunities that assist in paying for college. Students are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) which is located online at: www.fafsa.ed.gov. Use Darton’s school code of 001543 to have your information shared with Darton State College. To sign your FAFSA electronically, you will need to have a PIN. Darton State College awards the Carter Scholarship, which gives preference to the adult learner. The $500 scholarship is awarded each semester to a current Darton State College student who demonstrates a commitment to excellence in his/her education and chosen field and is enrolled full or part-time. Applicants must have completed at least 12 credit hours, be registered for at least 6 credit hours for the current or upcoming academic semester, and have a 2.50 or higher GPA.
Application Deadlines Semester Date Fall July 1 Spring December 1 Summer May 1
Applicants should submit following:
- The application form: Carter Scholarship for Non-Traditional Students Application Form
- A two page essay describing their academic and career goals and how receiving the scholarship will assist them
- A letter of recommendation from a Darton State College faculty or staff member or an employer
