Candidates for: President
Hi everyone. First off I would like to thank you all for this opportunity. My name is B.J. Valentine and I am running for SGA President for Darton State College. I know I have what it takes to run for this position. I’ve been involved in SGA for 2 academic school years now and this will be my 3rd. I have been a cabinet member, I have been elected SGA secretary and now I am running for president. I know SGA inside and out that is why I know I am the best fit candidate for this position. A few things that I would like to do for the students here at Darton State College: Increase Campus Safety Awareness, Increase involvement within the clubs and organizations on campus, and would also like to increase the better chance of transportation by getting a bike rental system for our school. Instead of reaching higher I want to start at the low point and try to see where we can go within this institution. I am currently a 3 years active member of Servant Leadership. I have been secretary and President for the Art Students League. I am a peer tutor for art here on campus. I am actively involved in Campus Life, whenever, I can lend a hand. I am currently in the process of becoming a Woman of Distinction, Darton Ambassador, and an active member of the Military Student Organization here on campus. I know what it takes to the lead the students here on campus. I will do the best I can to be your SGA president. Again, my name is B.J. Valentine and I would really appreciate your vote.
Candidates for: Secretary
My name is Josh Harp. I decided to run for the secretary office because I was nominated by a friend. I feel like I have what it takes to be a secretary for SGA. I believe that I have the “Go Getter” mindset to get the job done. I am a self-motivator, which allows me to encourage and push myself to go above and beyond to meet the expectations of the secretary position. I am well organized, and I can work with others. Overall, I believe I am a leader; not only can I lead people, but I know how to follow.
Hey, guys!! My name is Morgan Miller, and I am from right here in Albany. I recently graduated from Sherwood, where I served as Vice President of Student Government for three years. I loved being able to serve in that position. Service is one of my chief passions, and it was an honor to be able to represent my classmates as their Vice President. That being said, my time at Sherwood is over, and now I am here to represent you, the students of Darton State College. This year, I want to be your advocate. Every single one of you has an opinion, and it counts. But when you are just one of thousands of students, it can be difficult for that opinion to be made known. That’s where I want to help. The voice of the students has to be heard, and as your SGA Secretary, I would meet with administration on your behalf to share your ideas with them. It is my goal to maintain a strong communication between the student body and the administrators, so that everyone can get the best experience possible out of their time here at Darton. But in order to be able to do this, I first need your help. Please vote for me, Morgan Miller, to be your SGA Secretary for this school year. I am experienced and dedicated to serving you and making your voice known. Thank You.
Candidates for: Vice President for Academic Affairs
Hi, my name is Dottie Ruth and I am running for the position of VP of Academic Affairs. There are many reasons why I would like to become the Vice President of Academic Affairs, for starters, I would like to help students across Darton to be more aware and to use the resources of the writing center, math lab, library, and on campus tutors. I feel strongly that every student can benefit from all of these academic resources greatly. Secondly, I would like to help every classroom and student is able to attain the right assets they need to do the best they possibly can. Lastly, I would like to help every student at Darton State College be the best student they could possibly be, and to give them the opportunity to excel in everything they put their mind to.
Hello everyone, my name is Khatura Jones. I’m an eighteen year old nursing major from Ashburn, Ga. I was voted by my peers as Vice President of our senior class. While serving my position I had to deal with many student issues such as; homecoming, prom, and senior trips. My fellow officer’s and I worked diligently to solve all the students concerns. While making my transition from High School to College, I think I am best to learn best by dealing with student body. Becoming Vice President of Academic Affairs will help me to do just that. President Barak Obama once stated, “The future belongs to young people with an education and the imagination to create.” Since education is important to me being voted Vice President of Academic Affairs, will be the perfect thing for me. Again, I am Khatura Jones, and I am running for SGA’s Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Candidates for: Vice President for Student Affairs
My name is Savannah Tappin and I am running for Vice President of Student Affairs for Student Government Association (SGA). I was the Vice President for Student Affairs last year, and I have learned dos and don’ts. I have a better understanding and what needs to get done and how to do it. I can use my prior experience to help this year move smoothly, as well as encourage new members to follow in the right path. One thing I really want to do this year is to get together with the academic affairs person and start a science lab. We have a math lab/center as well as a reading and writing lab/center, but a lot of people struggling in science as well. I believe this resource would be great addition to the Darton students. I’ve worked with B.J. Valentine, who is running for President, for past year and together we have big things planned for this year that will really improve SGA as an organization, so we can build with the student body. So vote for me for Vice President of Student Affairs for SGA, again my name is Savannah Tappin.
Thank You (:

I care about each and every one of you and your experience here at Darton both inside and outside of the classroom. So if you want someone who will get the job done for you vote Sharnelle K.
Sharnelle K, Serving Students their way
Candidates for: Vice President for Business Affairs
My name is Mahlon Randolph; I am a sophomore here at Darton State College and I greatly value the opportunity to represent the school on an executive level. I am running for the position of Vice President of Business Affairs. This position would give me the opportunity to truly speak for the student body. Students are often left out of decision making that affects them, like financial aide, tuition, and students involved in what is happening around them. I have worked on campus for about a year now and have made several connections with faculty as well as staff. Because of these relationships, I have developed an experience that I have gained as a follower as well as a leader. I think I am definitely the right person for the job. This is the start of a great new future for Darton State College; my job is just to make sure the students keep their say in what that future will be.
Hello everyone. My name is Kayla McCray. How are you all enjoying your college experience at Darton so far? I am sure that for the most part, everyone is having a great time, but I also know that for the most part, everyone is having a great time, but I also know that nothing will ever be perfect. This is where I can help you. My purpose and intentions for running for Vice President of business Affairs at Darton is to address and hopefully put an end to any complaints that you, the students, may have and enhance your college experience. I know that I cannot make your college experience perfect, but I can promise each and every one of you that will put forth my very best effort to make your college experience at Darton the best that it can possibly be. I am already looking for problems to fix. How many Darton Commons’ residents want Wi-Fi? How many students feel that there should be a bus to transport students feels that there should be a bus to transport students from the dorms to class? Also, how many students feel that there needs to be different types of food added into the menu for lunch and dinner? These are just a few of the complaints that I have observed, but I want to be brief, so just let me leave you with this: My name is Kayla,
Vote for me, Vice President of Business Affairs, I’m the one who cares,
When you have a problem, Come to me,
I’ll represent Darton with intercity, honesty, character, and you know the rest, Just vote for Kayla because she’s the best!
Thank you, you guys! Vote for me VP of Business Affairs
