DANS, the Darton Association of Nursing Students, is an active club at Darton College and in the local community. Every nursing student is a member of DANS and pre-nursing majors are encouraged to join. DANS members participate at the local, state and national level attending conferences and networking with other nursing students. At last year's state convention, DANS won the Image of Nursing award. DANS offers our members professional development, mentoring, and a lot of fun along the way.
DANS has been actively involved in several community projects. In 2008, the club raised money for leukemia by participating in the Light The Night fundraising walk, helped domestic violence victims by supporting Liberty House of Albany, donated gifts at Christmas, and even helped build a house for Habitat for Humanity as part of their MLK build. DANS actively fundraises to support their activities and looks forward to donating scrubs to a medical mission in Mexico and shoes for kids in need. As nurses they are keenly aware of "giving back" to their community and they have had a very successful year both in and outside of the classroom!
In addition to the various Student Activity programs offered at Darton College, the Office of Student Activities also promotes and facilitates student involvement in a variety of on-campus clubs and organizations. These clubs represent an expansive assortment of topics including sport clubs, international organizations, religious organizations, academic honorary organizations and other special interest clubs whose interest centers around academic areas of study.
