This session is designed to assist those persons that are unable to complete the self-paced web based training. Classroom sessions will utilize the web based training with the addition of an on-site facilitator to provide immediate assistance as needed. Since this expense training is mandatory for all faculty/staff you will need to attend one of the classroom sessions if you do not plan to complete the training on your own time. Attendance does not guarantee completion of the training.

Carotid Artery Screenings - Donna Robinson and Brandi Mabrey (J268) - SESSION CLOSED
Stroke is the 3rd leading cause of death in the United States and the leading cause of disability. The carotid arteries are the main blood vessels supplying the brain. They can develop a buildup of plaque, which in severe cases can lead to a stroke. Carotid screenings are a simple, no risk procedure that can be done in a matter of minutes .

Making the Most of Your Outlook Calendar - Dr. Janice Hilyard (Computer Lab) - SESSION CLOSED
In this hands-on session, you will learn the simple 1, 2, 3 of setting up meetings and posting your time commitments in Outlook Calendar. Save yourself and your co-workers lots of emails and time by using this simple, efficient function of Outlook Calendar. Learn how to set up calendars for teams and projects.

Service Learning - Anne Michaels & Reba Goodin (J120)
Students who choose the SL option in a class receive course credit for providing volunteer service to a community agency. Students benefit is several ways from participation.

• Most SL participants’ final course grades are higher than non- SL students’ grades by the end of the semester.
• For students who participate in the Service Learning Option, the course will show a “Service Learning” designation on the official Darton College academic transcript.
• Many colleges and universities strongly value a history of volunteer service. It can be a substantial advantage on college applications.
• Employers strongly value a history of volunteer service. Many students are offered jobs during their SL experience and others are creating a network of contacts for future employment.
• Internships, field-work and volunteer experiences have been shown to influence students’ commitment to their education and promote retention in college programs.
• Students have reported extremely positive reactions to the program, and say that SL has been one of their best college experiences.
