Working Title: Information Technology Network Support
Department: Information Technology
Purpose:
Maintain and operate network and server equipment utilized by Darton College.
Nature of Work:
The major responsibility of the IT Network Support position is to provide a stable network infrastructure for the campus. On a broad scale, this includes:
- configuration and deployment of campus-network devices (switches, routers, wireless access points, etc) as per established specifications
- configuration and deployment of campus servers (Windows, Exchange, VOIP, etc.) as per established specifications
- proactively using performance-monitoring tools and reporting on situations that may lead to problems
- diagnosing network/server emergencies when they arise and persevering until they are resolved
- liaison with vendor representatives to obtain fixes for network/server device problems, and updating the network/server device software to apply those fixes
Duties & Responsibilities:
The major duties of the IT Network Support position include but are not limited to:
- Windows Server 2003/2008 Administration
- Exchange Administration
- Cisco VOIP Administration
- Windows Active Directory Administration
- Maintain Group Policy for Darton & Academic Domains
- Maintain and Operate McAfee EPO
- Maintain and Operate WSUS
- Schedule and Maintain Backups for Windows Servers
- Create Windows/Email Accounts for Users
- Maintain Login Scripts for Darton & Academic Domains
- Maintain Windows DHCP server
- Maintain Windows DNS/WINS server
Required/Desired Knowledge, Abilities & Skills:
- Windows Server
- Cisco VOIP
- MS Exchange 2007
- Group Policy
- Active Directory
- McAfee
- Veritas BackExec
- DNS, WINS, DHCP
- TCP/IP
- Troubleshooting
Required Education and/or Experience:
Degree in Computer Information Systems or equivalent experience
Supervision:
Position reports to the Chief Information Officer
