Working Title: Executive Dean of Global Education
Department: Office of the President
Purpose:
Serve as Chief Global Education Officer for Darton College with the purpose of building an appreciation, understanding, and a broader perspective of our global society. To oversee activities at the College that would assist students to become engaged and informed global citizens who are aware of global multicultural issues.
Nature of Work:
The Dean of Global Education is responsible to the President for the administration of global education of the college.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all programs and activities related to global education.
- Work with individual departments, divisions, Academic Affairs and/or Student Affairs.
Specifically, the Dean of Global Education will work with Academic Affairs to
- Internationalize the Curriculum
- Implement a General Education course/courses in Global/Perspectives/ International Studies
- Coordinate Study Abroad Activities
- Coordinate Faculty Exchange
- Coordinate Scholars in Residence Program
- Coordinate Foreign Language Programming
- Coordinate Global Corporate College
- Promote English as a second language program
Specifically, the Dean of Global Education will work with Student Affairs to
- Coordinate Student Exchange
- Coordinate International Student Recruitment
- Coordinate International Student Advising/Counseling
Specifically, the Dean of Global Education will work with Academic Affairs and Student Affairs to
- Coordinate In-service Programs for Darton College’s Faculty and Staff on Internationalism
- Coordinate Global Corporate College
- Coordinate Overseas Programs
Additionally, the Dean of Global Education will work to
- Coordinate relations with foreign nationals in the community
- Adhere to all State and Federal Regulations
- Insure that the College is in compliance with all state and federal immigration regulations
Coordinate any Economic Development efforts with Homeland Security
Required/Desired Knowledge, Abilities & Skills:
- Student-centered personal philosophy and commitment to student success and academic standards
- Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- Working knowledge of leading-edge technology and its implications for the community college
- A capacity for innovation
- International experience
- Knowledge of foreign language(s)
- An understanding and appreciation of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs
Required Education and/or Experience:
- Earned doctorate degree
- International Experience
- Five years of college administrative experience as divisional dean, chair, or assistant chair
- Five years full-time experience as a college faculty member with noted achievements in teaching
- Knowledge of two or more foreign languages
Supervision:
The Dean of Global Education is under the direction of the President of the College.
