Working Title: Coordinator for Excellence in Teaching and Learning
Department: Vice President for Academic Affairs
Purpose:
The Coordinator for Excellence in Teaching and Learning will assist all faculty members in the improvement of student learning and success through excellence in teaching.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with faculty to develop and implement instructional assessment tools and processes to identify opportunities to improve student learning
- Research best practices in college teaching and promote these through multiple means including faculty orientations, Web-based resources, ad-hoc workshops, and individual consultations
- Explore efficient and effective applications of technology to improve student learning, and work with faculty, administration, and the Technology Services Division to facilitate their implementation
- Assist the Grants Department in locating and obtaining funding for projects to improve student learning
- Serve, by position, on the Faculty Professional Development Committee
- Identify and pursue special projects related to teaching excellence
- Fulfill other duties as assigned
Required/Desired Knowledge, Abilities & Skills:
- Ability to develop, administer, and deliver professional development programs
- Ability to work effectively with large groups, small groups, and individuals
- Ability to work across disciplines and teaching environments, including online instruction
- Ability to interact with faculty members in a supportive manner
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Required Education and/or Experience:
- Master’s degree in Education or a related field required; higher-level degree in Education (Ed.S., Ed.D., or Ph.D.) preferred
- Minimum three years professional experience in an educational environment; college-level experience preferred
- Teaching experience required; college-level teaching experience preferred
Supervision:
The Coordinator for Excellence in Teaching and Learning reports to the Director, Faculty/Staff Center for Assessment, Improvement, and Development.
