Darton College, is seeking a dynamic, creative, experienced, and successful leader to fill the position of Dean of Nursing and invites nominations and applications.
Position Description:
Darton College, a multi-purpose two-year college within the University System of Georgia, is seeking a dynamic, creative, experienced and successful leader to fill the position of Dean of Nursing.
The College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate degrees and certificates. A two-year comprehensive community college and unit of the University System of Georgia, the College is located in Albany, Ga. With a local 14-county service area, the College actively recruits throughout the state, nationally and internationally. Opened in 1966, Darton College has experienced a growth rate of over 40 percent in the last five years and currently enrolls over 5,000 students in transfer and career two-year associate degree programs and one-year career certificate programs. The Nursing Division is accredited by NLNAC and has full approval of the Georgia Board of Nursing. The Nursing Division employs 22 full-time faculty and numerous part-time clinical faculty. There are over 400 nursing majors in the program and an additional 500 pre-nursing majors. Besides the on-campus program, there are four satellite locations.
The Dean of Nursing will report to the Vice-President for Academic Affairs and provide leadership and administrative oversight for the Nursing program.
Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Maintaining high levels of retention and completion of the Nursing Program and licensure process with a focus on student-centered success.
- Ensuring enrollment growth by recruiting college ready students, facilitating strong relationships with service area high schools and sister institutions.
- Developing and implementing a strategic plan for marketing and recruitment.
- Providing leadership, coordination, and assistance in college-wide student orientation, advising and retention programs.
- Developing and implementing plans to recruit traditional, non-traditional, ACCEL, international, and online students.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree.
- At least three years teaching experience and two years higher level management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and community.
- Proven leadership in promoting and marketing the Nursing programs of study.
- Excellent interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills – both written and verbal.
- Experience managing a broad range of full-time and part-time faculty and staff.
Preferred:
- Doctorate in Nursing field.
- Experience with distance learning.
Contract Provisions:
- Twelve-month position.
- Full-time, tenure track position starting date negotiable.
- Rank: Commensurate with experience.
- Salary: $80,000 - $100,000 depending upon qualifications and experience.
- Administrators receive all benefits provided by the University System of Georgia, including hospital and major medical insurance, group life insurance, Georgia Teachers' Retirement System, Social Security, liability insurance, and Workman's Compensation.
