Author To Speak on "Poetry With a Purpose" Feb. 17
Author Hasandra Heyward will speak at Darton College on "Poetry With a Purpose" on Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 11 a.m. in J-121.
In college, Heyward had original poetry published in an anthology titled A View from the Edge, a compilation of poetry from around the globe.
She is often asked to present her work at national women's lectureships, marriage retreats, youth conferences, graduation ceremonies, and Lady¹s Day programs. Her work is used in counseling sessions with drug addicted mothers and daughters.
Her book, My Soul's Symphony, captures a spiritual awakening inside of her that is easily translated to her readers. She is currently working on another book titled Inspired Breath Ballet due to be released late summer 2009. Hasandra Heyward can be reached through the Web site www.poetrywithpurpose.com (Creative Vision That Makes a Difference).
Heyward will also be doing a benefit book signing with 50 percent of the profits going to The Liberty House, the domestic violence shelter in Albany.
This event is open to the public. For more information, please call (229) 317-6925.
