Darton Receives STEM Grant
Darton College has been awarded a $595,676.00 grant by the National Science Foundation. This award is effective February 15, 2009 and expires January 31, 2014.
The grant has been awarded for the project entitled, "Southwest Georgia Scholarship Project for the Advancement of Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics, (STEM).” Darton College will utilize this grant for scholarships to students who meet the following criteria:
- Full-time student enrolled in an associate degree in Biological Science, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Forensic Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Pre-Engineering
- United States citizens, nationals of the United States, aliens admitted as refugees, or aliens lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence
- Demonstrated financial need as determined through FAFSA
- Minimum 2.7 overall high school or college GPA
Each semester, the scholarship will be up to $2,750.00 depending on any financial aid restrictions. The scholarships may be used by students to complete a two-year degree or transfer to a four-year college in a STEM field after 4, 5 or 6 semesters depending on the student and major.
