Darton Spring Concert Schedule Kicks Off April 13
The Darton Music Department announces a spring concert/recital schedule ranging from a classical guitar series, a solo honor recital, a spring band and choral concert and informal outdoor ice cream concert/Darton Art Fair.
The spring calendar begins on April 13 with an outdoor Darton Jazz and Concert Band performance and Darton Art Fair with ice cream in the campus courtyard next to the library. The festivities begin with the Art Show at 4 p.m. opening with the Jazz Band. The Jazz Band will perform again at 6 p.m. and the concert band at 7:30 p.m. The Art Fair runs from 4-8 p.m. Some of the art exhibits will be interactive for viewer participation. Bring an outdoor lounge chair to the annual event. Music will range from classic to pop to big band jazz. Ice cream will be served throughout the concert/fair.
Guitar Day on April 23 features three concerts and a master class for guitar. All guitar events will be held in B-101 (directly behind J-Building from the parking lot). The festivities begin with a classical guitar concert by Kristian Anderson at 1 p.m. followed by a concert by Kevin Manderville at 1:45 p.m. A master class for guitar begins at 2:30 p.m. The final concert will be at 7 p.m. featuring the Tantalus classical guitar quartet. A reception will follow the performance.
The annual spring concert for the Darton College Chorus, the Vocal Ensemble, and the Concert Band will be April 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the theatre. On April 29, the Darton College Music Department will feature the top music students in their Honor Solo Recital at 7:30 p.m. in the Darton Theatre.
