Dancing With The Docs Jan. 22
January 14, 2011
If you like ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” you will love “Dancing with the Docs.”
The docs are members of the Dougherty County Medical Society, and they will show off their dancing abilities Jan. 22 at the Darton College Auditorium.
Dancing begins at 8 p.m., but the evening begins with a cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets to the event are $25, with the proceeds donated to the Darton College Allied Health Division.
Dr. Jose Tongel, president of the Dougherty County Medical Society, said, “Dancing with the Docs” is a chance for the doctors to “show that we have skills beyond our medical skills and it’s a chance to show that we like to have fun.” Tongel, an oncologist, was one of the stars in last year’s show.
The format for the dancing docs will pair each doctor with a dance instructor. Three judges will watch the dancers and critique their performances. This format mixes the dancing skills of the docs and their partners with the sarcasm and wit of the judges.
“We have some pretty hilarious judges lined up,” said Paula Bacon, executive director of the Dougherty County Medical Society.
Dr. Michael Daugherty, past president of the medical society, will co-host the evening with Dr. Kay Kitchen.
“Last year the performance was a huge hit, and because of that success and the growing popularity of ABC’s celebrated series ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ the 2011 performance is sure to be an even bigger success,” Bacon said.
Tickets can be purchased at selected doctors’ offices; at the Darton College Office of Institutional Advancement, Room 220 of the B.R. Tilley Academic Services Building; or by sending a check to DCMS, P.O. Box 1828, Albany, GA 31702.
