Darton State College To Hold Fall Commencement December 11
ALBANY - Darton State College is pleased to announce that it will hold its Fall 2012 Commencement on Tuesday, December 11, at 7 p.m. in the Cavalier Arena. This year's fall commencement will feature an address to the graduates by the Honorable Bob Hanner, retired State Representative.
Mr. Bob Hanner was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1975. During his tenure, he served on the House Natural Resources & Environment Committee, the House Appropriations Committee, the Public Safety Committee and the Rules Committee. He is the former Chair of the Joint Blue Ribbon Study Commission on State Government Decentralization and the former Co-Chair of the Joint Comprehensive Water Plan Study Committee. In addition, Hanner was the former Chairman of the House Natural Resources & Environment Committee, the House Legislative & Congressional Reapportionment Committee and the House Game, Fish, & Parks Committee. Hanner represented Chattahoochee, Lee (Pt.), Terrell, Quitman and Webster counties.
After retirement from the Georgia House of Representatives in April 2012, Mr. Hanner was appointed by Governor Deal as Executive Manager of Water Policy for Georgia Soil and Water Conversation Commission. Hanner is a graduate of both Gordon Military College and Southwestern College, and served in the U.S. Coast Guard in Vietnam from 1967-68.
Approximately 383 graduates are eligible to receive an associate of science, associate of arts, associate of applied science degree, or a certificate. Following commencement, the Darton College Foundation and the Student Government Association will host a reception for the graduates and their families in the Student Center.
In addition, Darton State College's allied health pinning will be held December 11 at 3 p.m., followed by the nursing pinning ceremony at 4:30 p.m. Both ceremonies will take place in the Cavalier Arena.
