Keep Your Kids Active and Learning At Darton's Summer Camps

ALBANY - Darton State College's Continuing Education department is gearing up for their summer camps, which will begin in June. Darton State College offers a variety of youth summer camp options for kids of all ages. Areas of focus include arts and enrichment, athletics, environmental, and science.

The following is just a glimpse at some of the summer camps being offered.

Camp Aquatica

Monday, June 3 – Friday, June 7, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Ages: 10-13

Whether you are looking for fun science experiments or outdoor water activities, this is the camp for you! Participants will learn all about water, one of the Earth's most important resources, conduct science experiments and tests, explore local water history and ecology, get up close and personal with water critters, and "cool down" in the water with fun games and activities. This one-of-a-kind opportunity is in collaboration with Darton State College, the Flint RiverQuarium and Thronateeska Heritage Center.The cost of this week long camp is $160.

Fun with Art!

Monday, June 10 - Thursday, June 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Ages: 8-12

This class is dedicated to expanding each student's imagination. Participants will discover a variety of artsy projects and techniques, and explore different media, including crafts, painting, clay and drawing. The cost for the Fun with Art camp is $110.

American Girl® Camp

Monday - Thursday, June 10-13 and July 15-18, from 8:30 a.m. to noon

Ages: 7-12

During the American Girl® Camp participants will travel through time with Kit, Nellie, Josefina and Kristen to learn what it was like to face some of the most significant events in American history. Activities will celebrate the lives and capture the spirit of these inspiring heroines. The camp ends with a tea party for the participants and their American Girl®. The camp costs $125 and includes a t-shirt.

Junior Engineering (LEGO®)

Monday, June 24 - Thursday, June 27, from 8:30 a.m. - noon

Ages: 5-8

In this camp, students will creatively build and modify different vehicles including everyday vehicles, concept cars, construction machines, and more using our unique LEGO® kits. This four-day class costs $145 and includes a car component to take home.

Camp Epic Fun

Monday, June 17 - Friday, June 21, from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Ages: 10-13

This week long camp is a new camp from Darton State College and Thronateeska Heritage Center. This camp is full of activities like rock climbing, canoeing, swimming, crazy science experiments, mind-blowing planetarium programs, and more. This is the camp for the kid who wants to do it all! This camp costs $140.

In addition to the camps listed above, Darton offers leadership camps and many athletic camps, such as baseball, tennis, basketball, swimming, soccer, and many more. For camps that are only offered during the morning hours, parents can keep their kids busy in the afternoon with the Cavalier Afternoon Activities Camp. This camp starts June 3 and runs through July from noon to 5 p.m.
