Darton State College Announces First RN to BSN Graduation
July 18, 2013
The first Darton State College students to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing will graduate Thursday, July 25, 2013, at 6 p.m. in the Cavalier Arena. Seventeen students will graduate, being the first class to receive four-year degrees from Darton.
Darton State College received approval from the Board of Regents to start offering four-year degrees in May 2011. The first cohort class of the RN to BSN completion program began fall semester 2012.
The RN to BSN completion program prepares graduates with an associate degree in nursing with additional skills in management, leadership, health promotion, community health, and research. The program is three semesters and courses are taught online to accommodate working students, with some hybrid courses that require additional time spent in lab or clinical settings. Darton has received initial approval from the Georgia Board of Nursing and is currently a candidate for Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
