Overview of the Profession
What is Cardiovascular Technology
Cardiovascular Technologists are health care professionals who care for people with cardiovascular difficulties. Under the direction of a physician, Cardiovascular Technologists assist in the diagnosis, treatment and management of patients with cardiovascular problems. Cardiovascular Technologists use independent judgment to make recommendations to the health care team regarding patient’s cardiovascular care.
Cardiovascular Technology allows you to work with people of all age groups ranging from infants to the elderly. You may work in hospital settings, doctor’s offices, and outpatient clinical settings. You can even work for major medical equipment manufacturers and suppliers. You can choose to specialize in either Invasive (such as Cardiac Catheterization) or Non-Invasive (such as Echocardiogram) Cardiovascular Technology.
