Job Trend: OT Tops the Charts
Despite news about the economy and unemployment, the profession of occupational therapy is topping the charts, whether it’s being deemed a Recession Proof Job or on the "Best Careers of 2009" list. Newspapers across the country are running articles about people going back to school to become occupational therapy practitioners.
There’s more good news: SimplyHired.com allows you to view employment trends over time using data derived from millions of job listings. It shows that since June 2007 occupational therapist job listings have increased 658%, and occupational therapy assistant job listings have increased 569%. Compare that to other careers (like construction, which has seen a 52% decrease), and it’s safe to say your job is quite trendy.
