Elizabeth Perkins, Dean
Deena Williams Newman is Advising Center Coordinator and part-time English instructor. During her career she has worked as a middle and high school English teacher, a book and journal editor, and a minister of education and children in churches. Prior to moving to Georgia, she was an adjunct English instructor at Brevard Community College in Cocoa, Florida.
Dr. Newman is committed to the mission of the community college and is passionate about improving writing skills. A native Floridian, she is a graduate of Lake-Sumter Community College (A.A.), Florida State University (B.S.), Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.A., Ph.D.), and The University of Central Florida (M.Ed.). She is a member of the Georgia Tutoring Association and the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA).
She and her husband Tom have one daughter, Allison. In her spare time she enjoys freelance writing, speaking, and leading Bible studies.
