Deborah Liss-Green received her Bachelor's degree in English with a concentration in writing from Queens College of the City University of New York. Her Master’s in Fine Arts is in Acting from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York. While pursuing her graduate work, Deborah studied with several professional actors and directors, most notably, F. Murray Abraham (Academy Award Winner for Amadeus). Ms. Liss-Green has training in Linklater vocal technique, Suzuki movement, Spolin improvisation technique, and has studied acting at the following New York City studios: The Stella Adler Conservatory and HB Studios. Her acting roles have been wide and varied, including the role of Vivian Bearing in the Pulitzer Prize winning Play Wit with the playwright in residence. Ms. Liss-Green has toured professionally with The Shoestring Players, and has directed plays at both the high school and college levels. As a teacher, her classroom experience runs from 8th grade to university teaching. She taught Theatre, English Composition, and Public Speaking at the University of Nebraska-Kearney for nine years before moving to Georgia and becoming a certified high school teacher. She is a Teacher-Consultant and former member of the leadership team of the Southwest Georgia Writing Project, involved in the training and development of K-12 teachers in SWGA.
Deborah believes that Theatre is the ultimate liberal art—combining elements of language, art, music, communications and even science in its scope. It is her mission to prepare students for further study and success in the future through theatre training as a means to learn discipline, team work, and creative problem solving.
