Nursing Faculty and Staff
Verna Inandan obtained a BS in Nursing from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines in 1971. She worked as an OR nurse at the University Hospital and as a Clinical Instructor before leaving the country in 1974. She has worked at Palmyra Medical Centers in the medical-surgical floor and orthopedic floor for many years. While working at the hospital she was actively involved in assisting nursing students in their clinical experience and had always enjoyed being a facilitator and preceptor as needed. Heeding the advice and encouragement from then Nursing Department Chair, Ms. Betty Ann Page, she pursued and completed the Master’s Degree in Nursing (focus on Adult Health Nursing and Education) from Valdosta State University in 1994.
She has been teaching at Darton since 1989 and has taught Fundamentals of Nursing, Medical-Surgical Nursing I and II and Maternal/Child Nursing. She finds pleasure in assisting students in finding the best strategies that fit their learning style. As the nursing mentor, she follows up on their progress from the first semester to graduation. She also serves as a resource person/mentor for new faculty members.
She believes that the future of nursing depends heavily on having excellent role models who will inspire and guide students in learning to be a compassionate, competent professional.
She is married, has one son and one grandson. She likes to cook, bake, read, and crochet. She also loves to travel and attend family activities.
