Nursing Faculty and Staff
Kristie Smith graduated from Darton College’s associate degree program in 2000 and began working as a Registered Nurse. Her background is in neonatal intensive care and medical-surgical nursing. She completed her BSN in 2004 from Thomas University and her MSN/FNP in 2009 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She is pursuing her PhD in nursing from Georgia State University.
Ms. Smith began her career at Darton College in 2004 as an adjunct clinical instructor in the pediatric, maternal child and medical surgical courses. She joined Darton’s nursing faculty on a full time basis in the Fall of 2006. She has taught Fundamentals of Nursing, Adult Health I and currently serves as lead instructor for Leadership in Nursing and Adult Health II. She has a passion for teaching and assisting students to succeed in their dream of becoming registered nurses.
Ms. Smith is married with one child and in her spare time enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
