The Division of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance offers four associate of science degree options to students who have chosen to pursue careers in the following disciplines: exercise science, recreation, sports management, and teacher education. With a dedicated focus on keeping our students active and healthy, Darton’s HPER department also offers dozens of activity-related physical education courses to non-majors and majors alike, including scuba diving, golf, tennis, yoga, bowling, rock climbing and many more. Also available are popular fitness-focused courses, such as strength training, aquatic circuit training and personal fitness. There is something for every learner here, as we offer several options to keep online students active and well, and have several health-related courses too.
Darton’s multi-million dollar Physical Education/Athletics/ Wellness Complex (Building E) houses state-of-the-art venues for teaching, exercising, athletic events and social interaction. The complex includes the Cavalier Arena, Fitness Center, Aerobics/Dance Studio, indoor pool, indoor track, recreation gymnasium, video-enhanced classrooms, climbing tower and wall, golf area, tennis courts, softball field, baseball field, two soccer fields, outdoor volleyball courts, cross country/hiking trails and activity fields.
