LIFE SCIENTIST
Life scientists study living organisms and their relationship to the environment to increase knowledge and to solve problems.
Areas of Specialization:
- Biochemistry
- Biology
- Zoologists
- Microbiologists
- Botanists
- Entomologists
- Biophysics
Work Activities:
- Conduct research to increase knowledge of living organisms
- Use results of research to develop new medicines, increase crop yields, and improve the environment
- Plan, write and administer research projects and technical publications
- Work as a consultant, inspector, sales person, service technician, teacher
Skills and Aptitudes:
- Apply scientific principles to problems
- Knowledge of laboratory and field techniques
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of commercial software packages and computer programming
- Strong science and mathematics abilities
- Visualize objects form pictures and descriptions and be able to see slight differences in objects
- Perform precise work and make decisions based on facts
- Work as part of a team or work independently
