OPHTHALMOLOGIST

Ophthalmologists diagnose and treat diseases and injuries of the eyes.

Areas of Specialization:

  • Ophthalmologists

Work Activities:

  • Examine patients for symptoms showing eye disorders or injuries and advise patients on proper eye care and methods of disease prevention
  • Determine extent of eye injuries using diagnostic equipment
  • Discuss eye problems with patients
  • Perform eye surgery and prescribe treatments for eye problems
  • Maintain accurate medical records and supervise staff
