OPTOMETRIST

Optometrists examine eyes and prescribe corrective lenses or treatment to protect and improve vision.

Areas of Specialization:

  • Optometrists

Work Activities:

  • Administer eye tests
  • Analyze information from tests and determine corrective procedures
  • Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, vision aids, vision therapy or other specialized service
  • Refer patients to other medical specialists
  • Supervise assistants and technicians
  • Fit eyeglasses and contact lenses
