Physicians work to maintain and improve the health of their patients by diagnosing medical problems and prescribing treatments.

• Examine patients using medical instruments
• Arrange for or perform diagnostic procedures
• Prescribe and implement suitable treatment or refer patients to medical specialists
• Advise and counsel patients
• Supervise medical records for accuracy
• Supervise staff
• Plan and implement research projects
• Perform surgery and child delivery

Skills and Aptitudes:

• Work well with people and make quick and accurate decisions
• Apply knowledge of basic science and clinical medicine to the human body
• Utilize medical terminology, modern diagnostic procedures equipment, and computers
• Supervise staff and operate a business if in private practice
