VETERINARIAN
Veterinarians treat injuries and attempt to prevent, control and cure animal diseases.
Areas of Specialization:
- Livestock Inspectors
- Poultry Veterinarians
- Veterinarians
Work Activities:
- Test animals and herds for disease
- Prescribe drugs, give injections, set broken bones, dress wounds, perform surgery and administer other forms of treatment to animals
- Advise about the care and breeding of animals
- Consult, teach, research and/or conduct inspections for government agencies
- May specialize in treating individual species
- May prevent or control animal diseases which can be passed to humans
- May write technical materials or produce commercial products
