Darton State College Library | Faculty & Staff Borrowing Privileges and Obligations
Faculty & Staff Borrowing Privileges and Obligations
Faculty and Staff may keep books with standard circulation periods for 28 days or may request Semester long loans. These are subject to recall or hold for use by other patrons. Unlike Student accounts, Faculty and Staff accounts are NOT automatically pulled in or kept current via BANNER so Faculty and Staff need to contact the Circulation Desk if they have problems with accounts or have not previously set up accounts.
A patron is responsible for all items checked out in his/her name until those items clear our Circulation Desk. Books from the Darton State College Library may no longer be left in the Dougherty County Public Library book drops. There is an after hours book drop located near the front doors of the Darton State College Library for print books only.
As long as a book has not been recalled or put on hold items may be renewed two times by bringing them into the library or by going to http://gilfind.darton.edu/ and viewing account information (see Video how-to for Darton Library Account PIN and GALILEO Password :). Exceptions to these guidelines include certain restricted materials. Items charged out manually need to be returned to the library for renewal. These charges may not appear online. Items CANNOT be renewed over the phone.
Faculty may check out bound volumes of periodicals for two days. Current issues of periodicals do not circulate without special permission.
The loan period of items recalled for other patrons becomes shortened. Items recalled by another patron should be returned as soon as possible.
Faculty and Staff of Darton State College have levels of access to GIL EXPRESS (opens new window) and Interlibrary Loan to order materials not available in the Darton collection and access to the off-campus GALILEO Password (see Video how-to for Darton Library Account PIN and GALILEO Password :).
Using a Proxy to Charge Out Books:
Should a faculty member wish a student, secretary, or someone else to charge out material for the faculty member’s use, the faculty member must call ahead to the Circulation Desk (6766) to give authorization. The faculty member is responsible for any charges.
A patron who suspects that an item charged out in his/her name has been lost should report it as soon as possible to the Circulation Desk.
A patron who loses an item is responsible for reimbursing the Library for the replacement cost and any special processing fees. If the book is found later and returned in good condition, the price of the book is refundable. The processing fee is not refundable.
Patrons are responsible for the proper care of items that they have charged out. The cost of repair or replacement of damaged items will be billed to the borrower.
Please see General Policies for information on Searching Books (if not found on the designated shelf), Lost Books, Damaged Books, etcetera.
